We're back from the SPIEL 08 in Essen, Germany - a game convention, mostly focused on board and card games, but also roleplaying games.

It was quite a stealth move, right? Well, I wanted to announce our presence, but the fact that I worked very late hours to get the prototype of our first board game ready.

I'll be kind and rewind:  Starting 2009, TOGC will publish board games in addition to our RPG line-up. The first one? A superhero board game (with a tiny bit of roleplaying mechanics thrown in for good measure) called "Supers".

But what does this mean for the future of our RPG material? All you need to know after the jump.

First things first: I'm finally going pro. If you didn't know, TOGC was more or less a hobby for me, the money for my rent came from elsewhere. And that's about to change. Meaning: I'll be working for TOGC 24/7 (give or take a little for sleep and recreation). Not quite there yet, but soon - before 2009, that's for sure.

Additionally, there's another guy joining TOGC early 2009, making sure that yours truly can focus on development and design. Neat, huh?

Supers (which was received very, very well at the convention in Essen - as was Dungeon Bash) will be out Q1 2009. At roughly the same time, expect to see the following:

  • A brand new versions of the Complete Spell Cards - a complete re-design featuring the new rules
  • A free update for Dungeon Bash - bringing DB up to speed with the new rules.
  • The free Complete Item Cards update.

After that: new versions of all our Complete Cards products, the DB expansion and (later) more board games. And the site will go bilingual (English and German).

This site will be updated, and will feature a "Board Game" section later this week. At the same time we'll post some pictures of TOGC at the convention, plus photos of the participants of the Supers competition we held there. And we'll properly announce the winners.

Before I leave you for now: our logo has changed (I was tired of the old logo, which never was that great to begin with). I'm in the process of updating this site accordingly. Oh, and TOGC isn't written in all caps anymore, the proper way to write it is tOgc. You'll see why once you see the new logo.

See you soon!
