DB House Rule:
The Alternative Cost of Living
by Jacob L. Lemmons

These rules are an alternative to "The High Cost of Living" rules from the DB book, and contrary to those are not based on the adventurer's level.

Daily Expenses:
* 1 GP per day gets common food, drink, & room.
* 3 GP per day gets good food, drink, & room.
* 5 GP per day gets good food & room, with excellent drink.
* 10 GP per day gets excellent (aristocrat quality) food, drink, &
suite of rooms.
* 20 GP per day gets everything that 10 GP gets, plus a fully
trained household staff consisting of a valet, a butler (not quite the
same thing), a maid, a personal chef, a page, a coachman, a liveryman,
a laundress, a chief of staff, and a general go-fer.  Maintaining this
standard of will also reserve the same suite for the PC upon their
return, & provide retainer fees for the staff while the PC is
adventuring; basically, this is daily rent on either a small manor, or
the equivalent of a lavish penthouse suite.
